| Chemistry Cards - Game Ideas |
|
You can use the cards to play a variety of games such as Fish and Rummy. You
might consider having students create their own games. Most games require the
players to use the cards to form matches, sequences, sets of adjacent elements,
or molecules.
Matches are three or more cards with the same number. Examples are shown.
Sequences are three or more cards in order in the same suit.
Sets of Adjacent Elements are groups of elements that are adjacent to each other on the periodic table. The elements can be next to each other horizontally, vertically, or diagonally as shown in the figure below. The figure shows sets of 3 adjacent elements. However, depending on the game, you can have sets of 2, 3, 4, or 5 adjacent elements.
Molecules are sets of cards that form a molecule. To form molecules, a card can be used as either the element or the number on the card. For example, water could be formed from the H card, any 2 card, and the O card. Or, the wild Non-Metal card could be used for Hydrogen and the Red A card or the wild Non-Metal card could be used for Oxygen.
